I saw the crowds cheering in amazement! It was like magic sparkles.

Ben's Brilliant Writing

Once upon a time there was a mad scientist. He wanted to rule the world but first he needed something to help him. All of a sudden, BANG! lightning struck the ground and that made a machine! Suddenly a windup robot marched out and it had plasma shields surrounding it. Then it was the mad scientist verses machine! Again a windup robot marched out. Then the mad scientist called his magic light saber. It cut the robots easily, all the gears went flying out.

Recipe for making ice cream at home

After we read a big book called The Giant's Ice cream, the children asked if we could make some ice cream. Mrs Hartley searched for a recipe of how to make ice cream in a plastic bag. Here is the recipe. It takes lots of persevering and shaking but well worth it! See our video below and leave us a comment

You will need:

• 1/2 cup whole milk (dark blue)
  
• 1 tablespoon of sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, chocolate syrup, or cocoa powder
• ice (crushed would work better)
  
• rock salt

Put milk, sugar and flavouring into a zip loc plastic bag

Place that bag into a larger plastic bag (zip loc would work best - less leaks!) with the ice and rock salt

Shake, massage and agitate the bag until it freezes (10-15 minutes)

Tip: It is important that you are mixing the contents of the inner bag, but you don’t want to be so aggressive that you burst the inner bag or cut it on the ice. Double-bagging should prevent this. If your hands get uncomfortably cold, use a towel or an old t-shirt to hold the bags as you massage them; they will be quite cold

Making Diggers

Today we brainstormed all we knew about diggers. Mrs Hartley then read us the story called "The Little Yellow Digger". After that we were allowed to make our own diggers. We could choose to work with a friend or by ourselves. We could also choose how to make our digger. Some of us drew a picture using kidpix on the computer, some chose to use lego, some painted, some drew, some used boxes to construct their diggers. When we reflected, we were all happy with the choice we made. It made us feel good inside to be able to choose what to use to create with. Next time some of us might use different things to construct with.

Mrs H goes to a 'C' party

Last night Mrs Hartley went to a 'C' party. I dressed up as the cat in the hat. The lovely Mrs Mount lent me her hat. Being a cat and knowing dogs like to chase cats, I was pretty scared at first. I wondered if I should run away quickly. I saw this great big friendly RED dog come in the door... Can you guess what his name was? It does start with 'C'. Have a look

Polka Dots come to visit RBS

We learnt how to exercise. There was three girls and one boy. There was balls and hoops with insides in them. They were funny. It was very fun. By Hunter.

The Polkadot’s taught us how to make our body strong. The Polkadot’s taught us that we need to keep our body healthy so we can exercise. There are one boy and three girls. It was super duper fun. By Paige

On Friday the Polkadot’s came to school. They looked cool. They had polkadots everywhere except in their hair and on their skin. They taught us to exercise by moving like a tiger. I liked to move like a tiger. Mrs Cornelius is giving out a Polkadot DVD with a Polkadot book and stickers. By Maddy.

The Polkadot Bop Show came to Red Beach School because they wanted us to exercise. He put a bag on his tummy and put some fruit in his bag. Mr Bop had a car and his car broke down. He pretended that he couldn’t run but he ran all around the hall. They gave us a high five at the end. By Matthew.

Sugar Snap Pea tasting

In term 2 we planted some vegetables in the garden behind Room 2. On Tuesday we got to taste our sugar snap peas. Below are some of our stories we wrote about them. These children have used some great similies in their writing as well as some fantastic describing words. Sharon.

We went to Room 2 to see our sugar snap peas. We picked the sugar snap peas. They are like a banana shape. They taste like a bean. It felt like soft teddy bears. By Nicole.


The peas tasted like sweet peas. The peas tasted delicious. When we went to go and pick the peas it felt like skin. It felt very lumpy. The peas look like a green jelly bean. By Chrissie.

Our Holiday Stories

In the school holidays I played on my DS new Super Mario Brothers. I can't beat Jacob on Mario verses Luigi. The aim of Mario verses Luigi is to get ten stars. In the school holidays I also played on the computer. The game that I was playing was called First Olympics Tidy Up. Also I played on a big kids playground. By Ben

I saw Marmaduke at the movies. It was funny. My little sister came with me. Dad was at work. Wendy came too. I had a haircut. I kept some of my hair. I went to Nana and Poppa's house in the weekend. I drew a picture. Poppa was at work. Mum dropped me off at Nana and Poppa's. They planted some flowers in the garden. Nana was knitting when I came with Mum. By Grace.

I went to the zoo and I saw some smelly Guinea Pigs. By the smelly Guinea Pigs there were some cute little rabbits. I went to a restaurant to have a hamburger and some chips and a chocolate milk. I went to Claire's house. My dinner was good. My friend was good. We made a slide. We were going to go downstairs to play but the parents said go upstairs. We are not to play downstairs. Dad said "we are going!". We said goodbye. I went to Daniel's house. This is good and we stayed for a sleepover. I had a good time. I had some milo at my friends house because I like it. Stitching

On Tuesday as part of our oracy we learned how to sew. We had to persevere to stay on the line and get our needle to go up and down in the right place. One boy even managed to sew around the table leg! Our stitching looks really cool, and we are very proud of our work.

Honey Centre Trip

Yesterday I went to the honey centre and I saw the queen bee. She had a long body and I saw lots of bees. I went on a bush walk. We talked about bees, they have two parts of their body. By Emma.

In room 24 we have used our fingers to paint some autumn trees. Our success criteria was to use autumn colours and to fill most of the page with our tree. We were only allowed to use of fingers. How do you think we have done?
